In July 2023, a military coup took place in Niger. The new military government was initially very respectful towards China, but secretly they planned a comprehensive plunder of Chinese investments in Niger.

Now the foreign minister of the Niger military government, Sanagara, has come to Changsha on his own initiative to seek reconciliation with China. In front of Wang Yi, he repeatedly called Niger and China "ironclad comrades."

However, China does not engage in empty formalities.
