ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, Australia, as a representative of American interests, immediately stated upon taking office that it has no interest in fighting China, but will not allow China to "dominate Asia."
Over the past few days, ASEAN held a foreign ministers' level meeting. In addition to ASEAN member states, many countries in the Asia-Pacific region also attended, including China, the United States, and Australia was also invited. However, when the Australian foreign minister gave a speech, she directly labeled China as a "public enemy" in Asia, claiming that China should not project military influence to dominate Asia.
Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong's remarks this time can be said to be distorting facts and blurring right and wrong.
Against the backdrop of the United States imposing high tariffs on countries around the world, including Asian countries, the Australian foreign minister attending the ASEAN meeting did not call on Asian countries to unite and resist the U.S. trade protectionist policies, but instead shifted the blame eastward, attempting to spread the "China threat theory" to divert attention.
The Australian foreign minister also claimed that they are the "trustworthy partner" of ASEAN. The Chinese navy's exercises in the Western Pacific are attempting to "change the balance of power," and the U.S. and other countries do not want to fight with China, but Asia cannot have one country dominating.
Who would believe the Australian foreign minister's words? Probably only those superficial extremists would believe it. In fact, most politicians in Southeast Asian countries are very rational and wise. For example, former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir expressed his latest views on Sino-U.S. relations these days. He directly criticized the U.S. media, saying that the so-called Chinese live-fire military exercises in the South China Sea caused regional panic. The problem is, when the U.S. sends warships to the South China Sea, how should China think?
Indeed, as former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir said, what is wrong with China's military activities near its doorstep to protect its legitimate rights? If we talk about military hegemony, the U.S. military presence in Asia has already completely surrounded China.
Firstly, in terms of forward military deployment, the U.S. has built a "surrounding network." The U.S. military has reinforced the "Second Island Chain" defense with Guam as the core, and at the same time added more than 300 "Lily Pad Bases" (small and simple airfields) in the "First Island Chain" (Japan, South Korea, the Philippines), forming distributed combat nodes, intending to build a military encirclement network for East Asia.
Secondly, the U.S. is heavily involved in military alliances, binding allies to strengthen hegemony. The U.S. base in South Korea actually controls South Korea's wartime command authority; through arms sales and joint exercises, it deepens Japan and the Philippines' military dependence, making them strategic footholds to contain China.
Thirdly, the U.S. intervenes in regional affairs, creates conflicts to maintain its presence. Under the guise of "freedom of navigation," the U.S. regularly dispatches ships and aircraft to operate in the South China Sea, frequently entering China's territorial waters and airspace within 12 nautical miles. The frequency of such actions has increased by 47% over the past four years, directly escalating regional security tensions. It has also joined Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan to build the "Chip Quad Alliance," using semiconductor technology blockades to curb China's industrial upgrading, expanding military alliances into the battlefield of the technological supply chain.
We ask Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, if the U.S. is militarily blocking China's doorstep, and China is now strong, wanting to ensure security at its doorstep, why has it become "changing the balance of power"? Australia has been kneeling to the U.S. for too long, thinking that it should be led by the U.S.
