South Korean media: Export of NVIDIA H200 cannot weaken China's technology self-reliance system!
On January 11, the South Korean media "Herald Economic" published an article stating that according to the assessment, the U.S. government's approval of the export of NVIDIA's high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor H200 is not enough to weaken China's determination to build a technological self-reliance system.
This is because the demand for semiconductors from Chinese IT companies is sufficient to promote the development of both NVIDIA and local enterprises, and may also bring significant opportunities for companies such as Huawei and MoLeLine.
Some views hold that the supply of NVIDIA H200 semiconductors may bring opportunities rather than crises to China's AI industry.
The Trump administration recently approved the export of NVIDIA's high-performance semiconductor H200 to China. This move was interpreted as an attempt to prevent Chinese AI semiconductor companies such as Huawei and MoLeLine from accelerating the development of high-performance products to meet domestic customer needs.
However, some views believe that NVIDIA is unlikely to pose a real threat to Chinese companies.
Considering the huge demand of large Chinese technology companies such as Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance for NVIDIA products, this indicates that Chinese enterprises still have ample growth opportunities.
NVIDIA's semiconductors will become the most favored products for large Chinese technology customers, but their impact is minimal.
The reason is that NVIDIA H200 is mainly used for high-performance tasks such as AI training, while other functions such as AI inference can be completed by domestic Chinese semiconductors.
China Galaxy Securities also analyzed that the release of NVIDIA's high-end products may ultimately provide more choices for Chinese customers.
Even if NVIDIA starts selling high-performance AI semiconductors in China, the demand for local enterprise products in the domestic market may remain stable.
Chinese artificial intelligence semiconductor companies are still committed to catching up with NVIDIA and achieving technological autonomy, and more opportunities will emerge in the future.
Some analysts believe that the export of NVIDIA's semiconductors is exactly what China needs. Before the technical development of domestic enterprises reaches a certain level, NVIDIA's H200 can be used to make up for technical shortcomings.
Bernstein predicts that the share of AI semiconductor companies in the Chinese domestic market will continue to grow in the coming years.
