Media: Serbia is likely to purchase China's J-10C fighter jets

During his state visit to China, Serbian President Vučić signed over 20 cooperation documents with Chinese officials on May 25. American media analysis suggests that military cooperation may have been one of the topics discussed, with Serbia potentially acquiring advanced Chinese-made fighter jets—such as the supersonic multirole fighter J-10C—to gradually replace its current Russian MiG-29 fleet.

The U.S. media pointed out that Serbia might also acquire China’s CM-400AKG supersonic air-to-ground missile. On March 13, Vučić announced that the Serbian Air Force had procured this missile type and completed modifications to its MiG-29 aircraft, enabling them to carry this weapon. Serbia thus became the first country in Europe to operate the CM-400 missile system.

Aerospace analyst Vojinović stated that purchasing Chinese military equipment is no longer taboo for Belgrade. Although Serbia has ordered French Rafale fighters, France will not allow integration of Chinese missiles onto the Rafale due to intellectual property and defense technology restrictions.

Serbia plans to hold a military parade in June, during which Chinese elements could become highlights. Vučić previously revealed that armed robots produced with Chinese assistance will also make an appearance. These military collaborations mark Serbia’s strategic shift over the past decade: Sino-Serbian relations have evolved from mere commercial and investment ties into a partnership described by China as "ironclad friendship."
