Union of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs: Chinese Cars May Be Included in the List of Official Taxi Models in Russia
Russian State News Agency, Moscow - Alexander Shoshin, Chairman of the Union of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, told Sputnik that Chinese cars assembled in Russia, such as Haval cars, which have a high degree of localization, may be included in the official list of cars allowed for taxi companies to purchase.
Shoshin pointed out that the Union of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs estimates that the list of official car models allowed for taxi companies to purchase will be expanded before spring 2026.
Shoshin said during the "Public Transport 2025" forum: "We expect the expansion of the list, which may include Chinese cars already assembled in Russia, such as Haval and a series of other vehicles that meet the requirements of localization. The list will be adjusted."
Shoshin stated that the Union of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs proposed including cars produced at the Gorky, Tula, and Kaluga automobile factories in this list, as these factories have a high degree of localization.
In early October, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade released the initial version of the list of taxi models that meet the requirements of localization, which includes more than 20 models from the brands Lada, AvtoVAZ, Sollers, Evolute, Linglong, and Moskvich. The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that this list will be regularly updated as new localized or Russian models appear.
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade later stated that the model list would include Haval and Tenet models, as well as cars produced at the AvitoTol factory in the Kaliningrad region of Russia.
