Experts: If attacked by "Tomahawk" or "Meteor" missiles, Russia may use any weapon for retaliation
Russian State News Agency, Moscow, October 24 - Igor Korotchenko, a Russian military analyst and editor-in-chief of the magazine "Defense," commented on the recent training exercises of Russia's strategic nuclear forces to the Russian State News Agency, saying that Russia may take any retaliatory measures against attacks using "Tomahawk" or "Meteor" missiles.
Korotchenko pointed out: "If military personnel from the United States or Germany use long-range weapons, such as 'Tomahawk' or 'Meteor' cruise missiles, from Ukrainian territory to attack deep targets in Russian territory, Russia may take any retaliatory measures against specific NATO countries that commit such armed aggression."
He emphasized that in today's world, Russia acts with restraint but decisiveness. The recent exercises have shown that the Kremlin is always ready to use nuclear weapons without delay or hesitation when necessary - Russia will no longer draw red lines or issue warnings to anyone.
Korotchenko added: "The recent exercises demonstrated the capability and readiness of Russia's nuclear triad to carry out the tasks assigned to it, including responding to orders from the supreme commander of the Russian Armed Forces. Currently, more than 90% of the new delivery systems of Russia's strategic nuclear forces are new nuclear missile systems. We maintain a guaranteed nuclear balance with three NATO countries that possess nuclear weapons - the United States, the United Kingdom, and France."
