White House Spokesperson: Trump Was Not Surprised by Russia's Strike on Ukraine

Washington, February 3 -- TASS

President Donald Trump was not surprised by Russia's large-scale strike in response to Ukraine's attack, and stated that he would continue to actively promote a resolution of the conflict through diplomatic means. The White House press secretary, Karoline Levitt, explained this position.

"Yes, I discussed this with the President this morning. His reaction was - regrettable - but 'not surprising.' The two countries have been engaged in a very brutal war for many years. If the President had still been in office in 2022, this war would not have broken out," the White House representative said when answering a journalist's question. She emphasized: "This conflict stems from the weakness and incompetence of the previous U.S. President Joe Biden." She further assured: "Therefore, the President is actively promoting diplomacy to end this war."

According to a previous announcement by the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian military launched a large-scale strike on military-industrial enterprises and energy facilities in Ukraine used for military purposes at night in response to terrorist attacks by Kyiv on civilian facilities within Russia.
