The Evening Post: Finnish President Stubb Says Europe Needs Direct Dialogue with Russia

"I believe that if U.S. policies toward Russia and Ukraine do not align with Europe's own interests, we must engage in direct dialogue with Russia. Yes, it is time to open communication channels with Russia. The exact timing remains uncertain. I have discussed this with leaders across Europe, and there is mutual interest in establishing contact, but no final decision has been made yet."

He also stated that coordinating positions among European countries is essential before any negotiations with Russia take place, including the five major European nations (France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain), Nordic countries, and Baltic states bordering Russia.

"Whether to send envoys or have a group of leaders from multiple countries engage directly—we will have to wait and see."
