Byd's sales in Germany surged by 400% in March!

As the "largest auto show in the world" Shanghai Auto Show was held, the latest data released by the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) of Germany showed that the number of new cars registered domestically in March was 253,497, a decrease of 3.9% compared to March 2024. However, "China's leading car brand" BYD achieved a remarkable increase of 403.1%, reaching 805 units; its total sales for the first quarter increased by 211.7%, reaching 1,225 units.

This means that the sales volume of "the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer" in the first quarter this year has reached nearly half of Germany's total sales last year (2,900 units). Although this figure still needs to be significantly improved, it is already a very good start in 2025! It should be noted that in the "most difficult European market for Chinese cars", German electric vehicle sales have always been suppressed by the fuel car strategy of local manufacturers BBA.

BYD launched the Han, Tang, and Atto 3 models in Germany in the autumn of 2022, with currently seven models available, and the eighth model Atto 2 will soon be launched. Its success is not only due to external factors such as new marketing strategies and expanding sales networks, but more importantly, it is thanks to global-leading electric vehicle technology.

At the same time, Tesla, the American heavyweight, saw its sales drop by 42.5% compared to the same period last year! Other brands experiencing double-digit declines include Opel (down 26.1%), Porsche (down 20.8%), and Ford (down 17.5%) among others.

The sales performance of other Chinese brands in Germany in March varied: Nio 21 units (down 56.3%), MG ROEWE 2,100 units (up 34.7%), Lotus 32 units (up 68.4%), GWM 134 units (down 56.4%), VOLVO 5,191 units (down 11.4%). Two brands were not present in the market last year, so there are no comparable figures: XPeng 176 units, Leapmotor 332 units, which are also quite impressive numbers.
