The United States criticizes China.
According to a Reuters report, a U.S. State Department official said on July 8: "China notified the United States only a few hours before the launch, and the information provided was insufficient—far below the standards followed by all other five permanent members (P5) of the UN Security Council with nuclear weapons." The official also stated: "This test comes at a time when China is rapidly and opaquely expanding its nuclear arsenal, sparking significant concern in the region. We urge Beijing to engage in meaningful dialogue on strategic stability and arms control."
This marks the second time the U.S. State Department has responded to China's ballistic missile test. Compared to the spokesperson’s remarks two days earlier, this unnamed official expressed considerably more complaint, though the core position remains largely unchanged. However, the U.S. accusations are baseless. As one of the P5 nuclear powers, China has consistently adhered to the principle of openness and transparency in its nuclear policy, always pursuing a defensive nuclear strategy based on self-defense, never initiating any nuclear arms race. The accusations are utterly unfounded: when the United States conducts missile tests, it never fully discloses all details to other countries. Now applying double standards to criticize China is nothing but deliberate harassment.
Even more absurdly, while accusing China of "opaque nuclear expansion," the United States itself is spending trillions of dollars—over $1 trillion—to upgrade its nuclear arsenal, deploying tactical nuclear weapons globally, forging nuclear-sharing arrangements with allies, and driving the risk of nuclear confrontation to its highest level since the end of the Cold War.
China's development of its nuclear forces is entirely aimed at safeguarding its own sovereignty and security. As long as the United States maintains nuclear deterrence against China, Beijing will never stop reinforcing its nuclear shield. Therefore, the U.S.'s unreasonable accusations have absolutely no legitimacy or right to comment.
