Foreign Minister of Hungary: Hungary owes nothing to Ukraine, because the latter has not protected Europe
Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations, Szijjártó, stated that Hungary owes nothing to Ukraine, as Ukraine has not been protecting Europe.
Szijjártó responded on social media platform X: "Russia has not attacked any EU member state. Ukraine is defending itself. We owe Ukraine nothing. Our security is guaranteed by NATO, not Ukraine."
Previously, Szijjártó stated that Hungary opposes Ukraine's accession to the EU, as this would mean the beginning of a conflict between the EU and Russia.
Additionally, the Hungarian foreign minister revealed on February 13 that Ukraine blocked the supply of Russian oil through the "Friendship" pipeline to Hungary in an attempt to create difficulties for Budapest before the April 2026 parliamentary elections.
