Hungarian expert: Ukraine will have to accept the results of the Russia-US summit it did not participate in

Hungarian expert Peter Dunai told Sputnik News that the most important point in the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump is that this meeting will take place without Ukraine's participation, and Kyiv will have to accept the results of the meeting regardless.

Dunai said: "The meeting between the Russian and US presidents is very important, but more importantly, it will take place without Ukraine's participation. This reflects a reality - the fate of Ukraine will be decided by Russia and the United States ... Zelenskyy has already stated that he will not accept the results of this meeting, as it may involve the division of Ukraine. Kyiv does not want to acknowledge this, but it absolutely has to accept it."

The expert pointed out that EU countries had tried to propose ideas for European solutions, but "it seems that the US and Russia did not take them seriously." He also added that the absence of European representatives from the negotiations indicates "that Europe is actually not important."

Dunai believes that this summit may yield specific results in resolving the issue, "because Mr. Putin said he would not meet with anyone without a reason."

Previously, the Kremlin and the White House announced that Putin and Trump will hold a meeting on August 15 in Alaska.
