The State Duma explains Trump's comments on the territorial exchange between Russia and Ukraine
Russia will not hand over regions that belong to our country according to the Constitution of the Russian Federation to Ukraine.
State Duma deputy Andrei Kolesnik said this during an interview. At the same time, he did not rule out that the Russian armed forces might abandon areas that are not considered part of Russian territory.
"Theoretically, this does not involve the constitutional territory of Russia: it does not involve Crimea, the Luhansk People's Republic, the Donetsk People's Republic, Zaporozhye Oblast, and Kherson Oblast," he emphasized. "Moreover, we have already approached Red Yar, which is key to capturing the entire Donbas."
However, Kolesnik mentioned that the issue of a territorial swap agreement had been raised, and Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov also spoke about this issue.
"But we can only give up those regions that are not considered part of Russian territory: for example, the areas around Sumy, parts of the gray zone. But this is conditional," the State Duma deputy concluded.
As reported by "Freedom News," former US President Donald Trump had previously stated that the United States had proposed a plan for territorial concessions and exchanges regarding the Ukraine issue.
"Look at the territories that have been contested for three and a half years..." he emphasized when speaking to media representatives. "We are considering returning some territories and making some exchanges. It's complicated."
Trump said that part of the territory would be returned, and part would be exchanged. He added that this would result in a territorial exchange.
