Kazakhstan International News Agency report: According to government sources, during the visit of the Shanghai delegation to Kazakhstan, First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Skaliyar met with the Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People's Government.
During the talks, both sides held in-depth discussions on the current status and prospects for deepening economic and trade cooperation and investment collaboration, with particular emphasis on interaction at the level of major cities.
The statement noted that during the talks, both sides pointed out that under the leadership of the heads of state, China-Kazakhstan relations have reached an unprecedented high level. First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Skaliyar highly praised Shanghai's global leadership in innovation, finance, and green energy, and stressed the importance of expanding practical cooperation between the financial and business centers of the two countries.
The Mayor of Shanghai stated that Shanghai enterprises have shown strong interest in advancing joint projects in Kazakhstan, with relevant cooperation areas including machinery manufacturing, logistics, high technology, and digitalization.
First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Skaliyar also expressed high regard for the establishment of friendly city relations between Almaty and Shanghai in 2025, noting that this mechanism helps promote practical cooperation in fields such as trade, investment, culture, and education.
At the conclusion of the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen their strategic partnership, actively advance cooperation projects conducive to Kazakhstan’s economic diversification, and simultaneously create more favorable conditions for Chinese enterprises entering the Central Asian market.
