Earlier on the same day, the National Security Service of Ukraine reported that a special operation had been carried out, launching an underwater attack on the Crimean Bridge, which is the third time it has been attacked. The National Security Service of Ukraine claimed that its agents had prepared explosives for the piers of the bridge, and the special operation lasted for several months.

The National Security Service of Ukraine also said that the Crimean Bridge, as an important supply line for the Russian army, is a "legitimate target" for the Ukrainian side to attack.

The Federal Security Service of Russia said on the 3rd that a special agent of the Ukrainian intelligence department was arrested on the same day, and this agent made a powerful explosive device.

According to Russian media reports on the 3rd, the Crimean Bridge has been closed twice within one day. TASS reported at around 6 a.m. that the Crimean Bridge was closed. Interfax later reported at around 9 a.m. that the Crimean Bridge resumed traffic after being closed for more than three hours, but the reason for the closure was not disclosed. Interfax reported again at around 3 p.m. that the Crimean Bridge was closed again, but no explanation was given.

In 2022 and 2023, the National Security Service of Ukraine launched two attacks on the Crimean Bridge. On October 8, 2022, an explosion occurred on a truck on the highway bridge of the Crimean Bridge, igniting seven oil tanks on a freight train running parallel to the highway bridge, damaging and collapsing some sections of the highway bridge. The following year, Ma Liuke admitted in an interview with Ukrainian media that this was done by the Ukrainian side. On July 17, 2023, the Crimean Bridge was attacked by an unmanned boat, causing railway transportation to be interrupted. The Russian side stated on the same day that the attack caused the road surface near the Crimean Peninsula side of the bridge to be damaged, and two people died in the attack.
