U.S. Media: Despite Government Pressure, American Firms Refuse to Purchase Russian Fuel
According to The Washington Sun, both Washington and Moscow have been urging U.S. companies to buy Russian diesel at substantial discounts. However, firms remain reluctant due to concerns over legal risks and reputational damage associated with potential sanctions.
The report notes that following a temporary relaxation of import licenses under the Trump administration, at least three oil tankers carrying Russian diesel set course for the United States in mid-October. Originally scheduled to arrive after the U.S. midterm elections, the cargo has yet to find a buyer. The vessels may now divert to Brazil, where imports of Russian diesel have surged in recent months.
