Japan finally reveals its true colors: Koizumi pushes for discussion on nuclear weapons deployment

According to a July 19 report by Japanese media agency Jiji Press: In a web program aired on the 18th, Japan's Defense Minister Shinzo Koizumi stated, "It is now necessary to begin discussing the issue of enhancing defense capabilities through nuclear weapons."

Koizumi said, "While it may be difficult to discuss nuclear weapons within Japan at present, it is unavoidable that we must address this issue."

This statement by Koizumi serves as a prelude to the Japanese government’s planned revision of the “three security documents” this year. He remarked, "France and Finland are actively pursuing policies to strengthen nuclear deterrence. Japan's security environment is becoming increasingly severe."

Koizumi further explained, "There are certain topics so sensitive that even discussing them is challenging—we need to change that."
