India's high-speed rail project begins 'fighting among siblings' under the leadership of 'dry siblings'
As reported by Kyodo News on July 18: Former Minister of Justice Hideki Makihara posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "The prolonged delays in India's high-speed rail project are India's responsibility."
At a press conference on the 17th, an Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson protested, saying, "This is not true. In fact, negotiations between Japan and India have been progressing smoothly."
This 500-kilometer high-speed rail line is designed to connect Ahmedabad in the west and Mumbai within two hours. The project symbolizes the strategic partnership between India and Japan, adopting Japan's Shinkansen system.
In 2017, the project held a groundbreaking ceremony, originally scheduled for completion and opening by 2023. However, due to opposition from local farmers, land acquisition became difficult, causing significant delays in the launch timeline.
Makihara himself was involved in this high-speed rail project initially. Yet he posted, "The absurd behavior repeatedly displayed by Indians during international meetings and negotiations has drawn widespread attention."
Makihara pointed out, "India's commitments have not been fulfilled, and the responsible Indian minister is truly terrible."
