The Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Russian Duma: Any "ultimatum" from Trump Cannot Change the Goals and Missions of the Special Military Operation
The Chairman of the Defense Committee of the Russian State Duma, Karpov, told RIA Novosti that any "ultimatum" from US President Trump cannot change the goals and missions of the special military operation, which were set by Russian President Putin.
Earlier, Trump stated that a ten-day countdown for achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine "began today," and he also pointed out that if no agreement is reached with Ukraine, he plans to impose import tariffs, but it is uncertain whether this will have an effect on Russia.
Karpov said, "Let Trump issue ultimatums to his subordinates. His ultimatums mean nothing to us. We have our president, the supreme commander, who gives orders and we follow them. The goals and missions of the special military operation are set by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, the President of the Russian Federation. Only he can change them; no one else can."
Karpov pointed out that Trump's actions may affect the relationship between Russia and the United States, saying that the relationship "has already been non-existent."
