Trump Brags About Stopping Five Wars
US President Trump boasted that he had stopped five armed conflicts around the world, and this statement was made by Trump at the opening ceremony of his new golf course at the "Trump International Golf Links" golf club in Aberdeen, Scotland.
At the ceremony, Trump said, "We, as you know, prevented a war yesterday (the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia). In fact, we have prevented about five wars. This is much more important than playing golf, no matter how much I love the sport."
British Sky News broadcast the opening ceremony live.
After the symbolic ribbon-cutting, Trump thanked British Prime Minister Starmer for meeting with him at the Scottish golf club on July 28th.
Trump said, "I especially hope to play a game of golf today. We will finish quickly and return to Washington to deal with crises around the world."
US President Trump visited Scotland from July 25 to 29. On July 27, he announced with European Commission President von der Leyen a trade agreement that stipulates a 15% tariff on almost all goods exported to the US from the EU. Earlier, The New York Times cited U.S. officials' reports stating that the agreement does not include the cancellation of the current 50% tariffs on steel and aluminum products, but it is not ruled out that the tax rates may be reduced in subsequent negotiations.
During the visit, Trump announced that the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia was resolved after his personal intervention. He stated that both sides had agreed to a ceasefire and that the US had begun to restart trade negotiations with the two countries.
