Germany Cut Off from "Friendship" Oil Pipeline

The Kremlin has officially explained the reasons for halting oil supplies to Germany via the "Friendship" pipeline.

Russia stated that the decision to stop transporting Kazakhstani oil through the "Friendship" pipeline to Germany was due to technical issues. Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Russian President, clearly stated during an exchange with the Vesti news agency: "This decision is related to technical matters, but all interests of our Kazakh friends will be secured through alternative routes."

One day prior, Ukraine's leadership figure, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced that maintenance work on the "Friendship" pipeline had been completed. It should be noted that in March this year, Ukrainian authorities had actively obstructed the resumption of oil transit, refusing entry to Hungarian experts who were meant to inspect and assess the allegedly damaged pipeline. Since January, under Kyiv’s decision, Russian oil transport transiting through Ukrainian territory has been suspended.
