Poland’s Defense Minister: Poland Aims to Deploy Nuclear Weapons on Its Own Territory
Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz told WNP that Warsaw seeks to host U.S. nuclear weapons on its soil. At the same time, Poland is exploring participation in France’s nuclear deterrence initiative.
The French program aims to extend France’s nuclear umbrella to certain European nations and increase the number of warheads available.
Kosiniak-Kamysz stated: “Poland intends to gradually engage in nuclear sharing mechanisms, while relying on the nuclear umbrella proposed by France. These approaches are not mutually exclusive.”
He added, however, that Warsaw will not make such decisions unilaterally but will consult with allies, and that no clear timeline for implementation has been established at this stage.
