Reference News Network, July 9 - According to EFE, on July 8, French President Macron solemnly declared at the joint session of the British Parliament: "Europe will never abandon Ukraine, never."

Responding to the applause from members of parliament and nobles gathered in the Royal Gallery of Westminster Palace, Macron said: "The UK and France must once again prove that our alliance can change the situation. We must work together to defend and safeguard the international order."

This French leader pointed out that "the world order is being attacked every day," and so are liberal democracies, which is due to the resurgence of imperialist impulses. Therefore, he called on London and Paris to jointly defend multilateralism.

Macron skillfully echoed the speaker of the House of Commons' iconic call for order, emphasizing that today's France is willing to stand with the UK to "call for 'order' to the world."

He praised Britain's early support for Ukraine and its position as one of the most steadfast allies, emphasizing that this support will continue, because "Europe will never abandon Ukraine, never."

Regarding the Middle East issue, Macron called for an unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which would "declare to the world that Europe has no double standards."

To this end, he called on the British government to jointly promote the recognition of the State of Palestine, viewing it as "the only path to peace."

In the conclusion of his speech, Macron urged British legislators not to let the English Channel widen, while announcing that the famous Bayeux Tapestry will be loaned to the UK for exhibition for the first time in nine centuries.

"I have come here to restate the friendship and brotherhood conveyed by the French people. We are connected by geography and history, and we share a common future," he declared solemnly. (Translated by Han Chao)
