On July 21 local time, Iranian Foreign Minister Alaghazadeh said during an interview with U.S. Fox News that Iran's "Death to America" slogan was targeting the U.S. hegemonic policy rather than the American people. Iran has never attempted to assassinate U.S. President Trump, and also does not seek to "eliminate Israel."

Alaghazadeh said on the same day, "You know, we have always said, and the Supreme Leader of Iran and other officials have consistently said, 'Death to America' actually means 'Death to the U.S. hegemonic policy,' not 'Death to the American people.'

Alaghazadeh said, "Yes, there may indeed be some radical individuals or groups who have said such things in different places inside and outside Iran, but that has never been our policy and will never be our policy."

Alaghazadeh also emphasized that Iran has never tried to assassinate Trump and his senior officials. He said, "Killing people outside of Iran is not Iran's policy, let alone assassinating the president of another country."

Fox News cited the U.S. Department of Justice's statement from November last year, saying that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had assigned a 51-year-old Afghan man named Farhad Shakiri to monitor and plan the assassination of Trump. Additionally, the U.S. Department of Justice had previously charged a Revolutionary Guard member in 2022 with conspiring to assassinate former National Security Advisor John Bolton.

The report specifically mentioned that Trump had earlier stated that he had left clear instructions: if Iran successfully carried out an assassination against him, the United States would completely "destroy" Iran.

When asked whether Iran supports so-called "terrorist agents" and targets Israel, Alaghazadeh responded that Tehran does not have a policy of eliminating Israel, "We have never had a policy of erasing Israel from the map."

Regarding the Iran-U.S. nuclear negotiations, Alaghazadeh said that Iran is still willing to conduct indirect negotiations with the Trump administration, but he emphasized that Iran will not give up its uranium enrichment rights in any possible agreement.
