9月5th, 2024 (Editor: Bian Chun) On the evening of September 4th local time, US President Trump held a dinner at the White House Rose Garden to host more than 20 tech industry elites. However, the world's richest person and top figure in the tech circle, Elon Musk, was not on the guest list.

Regarding this, Musk responded that he had been invited to attend the technology leaders' summit held at the newly renovated Rose Garden of the White House on Thursday, but he could not attend.

"I was invited, but I'm sorry I can't attend. My representative will attend instead," Musk said in response to a user's question on X on Thursday. The user asked why the leader of xAI, SpaceX, and Tesla had not been invited.

A White House official revealed that the guest list for Thursday's event included Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

The fact that Musk was invited may be an indication that his relationship with Trump is thawing. Musk was once called Trump's "first brother" and has been by Trump's side almost all the time. However, after leaving the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) this summer, he had a heated argument with the president over the "Big and Beautiful" bill.

Musk even vowed to support major challengers of Republican lawmakers who voted for Trump's landmark funding bill. He also claimed he would form a new political party, but there seems to have been no substantial progress in this regard.

In recent times, Trump's and Vice President JD Vance's public statements seem to indicate that they welcome Musk's return to the Republican camp.

Trump praised Musk as "80% super genius" in an interview this Tuesday. He said Musk is a good person, and he just made a mistake earlier, straying from his original position, but it doesn't matter because such situations are sometimes unavoidable.

He also pointed out that Musk is "20% problematic." "If that 20% problem is solved, he would be great, but he has encountered some difficulties." Furthermore, Trump said Musk now has no choice but to return to the Republican Party.

Vice President Vance said last month in an interview that the relationship between Musk and the Trump administration is currently quite complex. He also expressed hope that Musk would return to Trump's camp before the midterm elections.

Musk has recently stopped attacking the Trump administration on X. In some cases, he seems to fully support the White House. Last month, he replied to a tweet from White House communications advisor Maggie Martin with a flame emoji and a big laugh emoji. Maggie Martin posted a photo with the caption: "@realDonaldTrump President showed his 'Four More Years' hat to President Zelenskyy and President Macron."

During President Biden's administration, Musk was not invited to the 2021 White House Electric Vehicle Summit. It seemed partly because Tesla is an automobile manufacturer without a union. Musk has always been upset about being ignored that time and has repeatedly criticized the White House's approach openly.
