US President Trump publicly talked about this year's prominent break with Musk, saying that this former ally has no choice but to return to the Republican Party.
"I don't think he has a choice," Trump said in an interview recorded on Tuesday on Scott Jennings' show, stating that Musk's political choices are only between the Republican Party and "radical left-wing lunatics."
Nevertheless, Trump basically praised his former financial backer and downplayed the differences between them. He also insisted that this billionaire has some issues to resolve.
"He's a good person. He crossed the line incorrectly, but it's okay because, you know, it's just one thing," Trump said when talking about the CEO of Tesla.
Trump also said that Musk "is 80% a super genius, and the other 20% has some problems. Once he solves these 20% problems, he will be great, but he has encountered some difficulties."
Musk has not responded to the request for comment yet.
