Ibrahim Zolfaqari, spokesperson for Iran's Khatam al-Anbia Central Command, stated that Iranian authorities will implement a permanent traffic control mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian National Broadcasting Company quoted him as saying: "Given the ongoing threats from our enemies against our people and national security after the war, the Islamic Republic of Iran will firmly implement a permanent control mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz."
After U.S. President Trump announced a two-week ceasefire, Iran and the United States began negotiations in Islamabad on April 11. However, on the morning of April 12, U.S. Vice President Vance stated that no agreement had yet been reached. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bajae explained that while many issues had seen consensus, there remained significant differences on two or three key clauses.
On April 12, Trump declared that the United States would begin blockading all vessels attempting to enter or exit the Strait of Hormuz. He also ordered the Navy to track and intercept any ships paying passage fees to Iran.
The U.S. Central Command announced that it would begin imposing a blockade on all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports starting at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time on the 13th.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said the Strait of Hormuz issue is expected to be resolved in the short term, but he also noted that potential new changes may emerge in the management mechanism of the strait in the future.
In an interview with Anadolu Agency, Fidan stated: "I believe the opening of the Strait of Hormuz will not be an issue—certainly in the near future, we can resolve this matter. However, another scenario may arise regarding the management of the strait. New initiatives could emerge here. What proposals will Iran put forward? How will they be received? That remains to be clarified."
