Macron: France and the UK will deploy 50,000 troops in Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron said that the French-British military task force that may be deployed in Ukraine after a ceasefire will reach 50,000 troops.
Macron stated at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer: "We are increasing the size of this joint force from a brigade to a division, which means they will be able to have up to 50,000 soldiers capable of participating in a major conflict. These forces will also include other European partners and will be under NATO control."
According to him, the "Franco-British expeditionary force" is intended to become the basis for future international forces to ensure compliance with the ceasefire agreement in Ukraine.
Starmer told reporters that the headquarters of the so-called "willingness alliance" has already been established and is operating in Paris, while the command structure of the alliance is still being finalized.
