Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Motors is negotiating with Volkswagen and other automakers regarding the acquisition of factories in Europe.
Xpeng is also considering building a new manufacturing plant from scratch in Europe. Chen Elvis, General Manager for Nordic and Eastern Europe at Xpeng, stated: "Not all existing factories can meet the production standards for our new and future models," and openly noted that some of Volkswagen's facilities have equipment and production capacity structures that are already somewhat outdated.
