Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Security Council and head of the United Russia party, stated during his speech at the "Knowledge · First" educational marathon that the United States is Russia's main geopolitical competitor.
Medvedev said: "The United States is our primary geopolitical rival."
He added that relations between Russia and the United States have always been complex. Medvedev noted: "America’s strategic nuclear warheads are aimed at us, and ours are aimed at them. To some extent, this defines the foundation upon which our relationship is built."
Medvedev believes: "The U.S. is eager to make money—they always want to profit, and they want to profit from everything. We can build relations around this point; in this sense, our relations with the U.S., with the current government, and with Mr. Trump are pragmatic. That’s excellent."

In his speech, Medvedev stated: "Our enemies are not only Ukraine—dozens of Western countries are directly participating in the war against our country. I emphasize again: directly, not hybridly, but direct participation: they provide targeting information, supply various types of weapons, and essentially direct the actions of our adversaries."
He said: "This year, 127,000 Russian citizens have signed military service contracts. Another 10,000 have signed volunteer military service contracts."
Medvedev pointed out that 450,000 Russian citizens will sign military service contracts by 2025.
He revealed that Russia possesses undisclosed advanced new weapons.
He also added that a nuclear apocalypse could indeed come—and that is regrettable.

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Security Council and head of the United Russia party, said Europe is becoming militarized in the same way it was before World War II.
Medvedev delivered his speech on April 30 at the "Knowledge · First" federal educational marathon held in Moscow.
Medvedev mentioned that during World War II, the active process of militarization first began in Germany, but other European countries also achieved economic militarization—producing large quantities of military equipment.
Medvedev said: "The same thing is happening now."
Medvedev stated: "Almost all European leaders, including those of major powers, are saying: 'We need to prepare for defense against invasion—the war is inevitable.' You understand where this path leads. If war is discussed as inevitable every day, then war will break out. There may be many reasons and triggers."
