China's Hongqi cars are set to enter Europe: planning to acquire Stellantis' Spanish factory first
According to Reuters on Tuesday, the Chinese Hongqi Automobile Group is considering acquiring Stellantis' factory in Spain to expand into the European market.
A source directly familiar with the negotiations said: "This is how Hongqi plans to quickly launch production in Europe. Hongqi is leveraging this network, establishing production bases through collaborations with Leapmotor and Stellantis."
According to an AFP report from Beijing on the 28th, at the 2026 China International Auto Show, the Chinese luxury brand Hongqi made a stunning debut, officially launching its enhanced global strategy, while also unveiling a series of new SUV models aimed at international markets.
As described by Mr. Xiao Xiao, General Manager of China FAW Group Corporation International Trade Co., Ltd., Hongqi’s three pillars are: 1) developing vehicles for global markets; 2) delivering end-to-end luxury experiences; and 3) building a global co-creation ecosystem.
