Japanese Media: China's Electric Vehicle Exports Double Year-on-Year in April
A report by Japanese media outlet ABEMA TIMES, published on May 12, stated that exports of Chinese electric vehicles (EVs) in April this year doubled compared to the same period last year, due to the impact of the Middle East situation.
The article noted that global oil prices surged amid escalating tensions in Iran. According to data released on the 11th by the China Passenger Car Association, EVs and other new energy vehicles exported in April reached 406,000 units, marking an 111.8% year-on-year increase.
Yasuhisa Ozaki wrote: "The Middle East situation has disrupted global energy transportation, causing a sharp rise in oil prices, which has greatly boosted exports of new energy vehicles manufactured in China."
A senior official in the automotive industry said: "I believe exports will certainly increase in the future. As new energy vehicles gain momentum, the market for gasoline-powered vehicles is gradually shrinking."
Although domestic car sales growth in China has slowed, rising crude oil prices will accelerate the electrification process and continue to support the sustained growth of new energy vehicle exports.
