McDonald's Japan announces price increases on 60% of products

McDonald's Japan announced on February 24 that it would implement a price adjustment of 10 to 50 yen (approximately 0.45 yuan to 2.25 yuan RMB) for about 60% of its store products, including tax. The new prices will take effect on February 25. This will be the first price increase since March 2025.

McDonald's Japan stated that the reason for the price increase is due to rising costs of raw materials, energy, and labor. In this price revision, the price of the flagship product "Big Mac" will increase from 480 yen (approximately 21.6 yuan RMB) to 500 yen (approximately 22.5 yuan RMB). The price of the "Double Cheeseburger" will rise from 450 yen (approximately 20.2 yuan) to 480 yen (approximately 21.6 yuan). Prices for items such as "French fries" and drinks will also increase by approximately 20 yen (approximately 0.9 yuan RMB).

On the other hand, this price adjustment covers about 60% of the products, and not all the increases are uniform.

Product updates are also being carried out in conjunction with the price adjustments. The "Bacon Lettuce Burger," "Chicken Filet," and "Shrimp Filet" will switch to pepper sauce, while the "Chicken McMuffin" will switch to sweet lemon sauce. Additionally, the "Premium Baked Coffee" will also be renewed, enhancing its taste.

As of the end of December 2025, McDonald's Japan had 3,025 stores and was promoting digitalization and service improvements. As of the end of December 2025, approximately 1,800 stores introduced self-service kiosks, and approximately 2,680 stores launched the "table service" which delivers products to customers' seats.

McDonald's Japan clearly stated that it will continue to make price adjustments amid soaring raw material prices.
