Sputnik News, Novosibirsk, April 7 — Chinese Ambassador to Russia, Minister-Counselor Zhang Wei, told reporters in Novosibirsk that due to the dramatic changes in the current international situation, Russia and China are discussing prospects for further energy cooperation.

Zhang Wei said everything is based on mutual benefit. He pointed out that under the turbulent international circumstances, China and Russia play an important and crucial role, serving as factors maintaining global strategic stability.

Zhang Wei emphasized that the two countries will continue to strengthen cooperation on the international stage.

Zhang Wei attended the opening ceremony of the Novosibirsk branch of the Russia-China Friendship Association on April 7 in Novosibirsk.

Russian President's Press Secretary Peskov stated that global demand for purchasing Russian energy is enormous.

Peskov told reporters, commenting on the energy situation: "There are substantial requests for purchasing our country’s energy."

Peskov also noted that negotiations regarding Russia’s external energy supplies are conducted in a manner most favorable to Russian interests.

Speaking about the energy landscape, Peskov said: "Our foreign energy supply negotiations are carried out in a way that best serves our national interests."

Peskov stated that the world is now facing a severe economic and energy crisis.

Commenting on the energy situation, Peskov told reporters: "The world has entered an economic and energy crisis—serious and growing in scale. The market and market environment in the energy sector have been completely transformed."
