On September 14, Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Kolesnikov held an expanded meeting in Kyiv with Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė. Newly appointed Lithuanian Prime Minister Šimonytė chose Ukraine as the destination of her first foreign visit.

Kolesnikov expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its support and comprehensive backing of Ukraine, highly praising Lithuania's commitment to provide 0.25% of its GDP annually to assist Ukraine. Lithuania plans to prioritize Ukrainian affairs during its presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2027, a move which Ukraine appreciates.

The two sides also discussed Lithuania’s involvement in Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts. Under the "Shelter Alliance" framework, Lithuania is funding the construction of modern underground air-raid shelters near the frontlines and border areas, covering multiple schools in Sumy Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Zhytomyr Oblast.
