A source from the defense industry told Sputnik News that the "Admiral Nakhimov" heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser will go to sea for testing in August-September according to its preparation status.
The source said: "[Admiral Nakhimov] nuclear-powered missile cruiser is currently in the stage of preparing for sea testing. All systems, crews and equipment are being inspected. The test is planned to take place in August-September according to the preparation status."
In July, Andrey Kostin, president of VTB and chairman of the board of United Shipbuilding Corporation, said that the maintenance work on the "Admiral Nakhimov" cruiser has been completed and it is about to undergo testing.
In February this year, Nikolai Patrushev, presidential assistant and chairman of the Maritime Committee, said that the "Admiral Nakhimov" cruiser is currently receiving the most modern weapons and will soon be reactivated. The ship's reactor has been started.
