Following the announcement of Brazil’s election results, staunch supporters of Donald Trump have erupted in fury. On October 26, American MAGA-right wing influencer Joey Manarino posted nearly a dozen consecutive updates claiming that Lula made no attempt to conceal his brazen “theft” of the Brazilian election—open and blatant theft. Isn’t this precisely why the International Criminal Court was established? Flávio Bolsonaro is the legitimate president of Brazil. Lula is stealing the election in the most obvious and corrupt manner possible, and the international community must condemn this election; nations should refuse to recognize Lula.

It is time for President Trump to dispatch a team to Lula, just as he did with Maduro. What has transpired tonight is unfathomable. The people of Brazil are being held hostage. Lula serves as the central financial engine for left-wing movements across the region. His communist apparatus keeps leftist movements throughout South America functioning. The Brazilian people will suffer the greatest consequences, but defeating him would effectively end the regional left for an entire generation. Clearly, the MAGA faction in the United States has been thoroughly shaken by Lula’s successful re-election.

The claim of “brazen, open theft” is made without substantiation. In reality, the United States has exerted significant pressure on Brazil’s electoral process. Trump publicly pressured Brazil to halt investigations into former President Bolsonaro and hosted his son at a high level of diplomatic reception. Brazil explicitly stated its desire for the United States not to interfere in domestic elections. Yet, after the outcome was settled, this individual demanded that the U.S. treat Lula as it did Maduro—demonstrating an unambiguous intent to interfere in Brazil’s internal affairs.

This reveals the deep disappointment among U.S. MAGA factions regarding the election result. Why does the United States show such intense interest in Brazil’s election? The root lies in Washington’s longstanding perception of Latin America as its own backyard. Brazil, as the largest country in the region, stands as a critical barometer for political developments across Latin America. Had Lula lost, a pro-American government would have taken power, allowing the U.S. to consolidate its influence in the region, advance the ideology of Trumpism, and further marginalize left-wing forces. But clearly, this strategic calculation has failed—the election result ensures Lula will continue leading Brazil forward.
