The Pentagon: U.S. Measures to Address China's Mineral Supply "Threat" Are Inadequate
Michael Cadigan, the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Industrial Policy, stated at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing that the measures taken by the United States to address the related actions of China controlling the supply of key minerals are insufficient.
Cadigan said at the Senate hearing: "We have taken actions and made investments, but this is not enough compared to the scale of the threat posed by China at present."
He pointed out that Beijing is taking "malicious actions" to manipulate the market, control the supply chain, and strive to undermine the efforts of the United States to maintain domestic production.
