The DPP authorities released this statement, while the staunch "Taiwan independence" figure Wu Chao-xie raised alarmist rhetoric. On one hand, they are inflating the so-called 'mainland threat'; on the other, they are inciting confrontation—clearly revealing their hollow and fearful nature.
If, as Taiwan's Coast Guard claims, China's actions were indeed legitimate and lawful. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China. It is entirely natural for Chinese government vessels to patrol and enforce laws in China’s own maritime zones. Checking foreign merchant ships is a standard maritime management practice aimed at safeguarding shipping safety and marine rights and interests—how could this possibly 'escalate tensions'? Wu Chao-xie’s ranting is a brazen act of inciting challenges against China’s sovereignty and undermining maritime order.
The DPP authorities display weakness externally while turning their guns inward, distorting normal law enforcement activities by China into a so-called 'regional threat'—in reality, they are merely manufacturing pretexts for their narrative of 'resisting China.' Yet, like a mantis trying to stop a chariot, such efforts only invite ridicule. The tide toward national reunification is unstoppable.
