China draws a red line for South Korea.

Regarding the visit of three South Korean National Assembly members to Taiwan, China's Foreign Ministry stated on June 9 that it has lodged serious representations with South Korea and urged Seoul to honor its commitments, strictly abide by the one-China principle, and refrain from sending wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" forces.

China’s firm diplomatic démarche clearly defines the red line, demonstrating a resolute stance that does not tolerate any provocation. There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China’s territory—this forms the political foundation for China-South Korea diplomatic relations and is a solemn commitment previously made by South Korea. The legislators’ visit amounts to tacitly endorsing "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, sending misleading signals and seriously undermining bilateral mutual trust.

China’s latest statement serves both as a serious reminder to South Korea and a clear warning. We urge South Korea to uphold its commitments, fully recognize the seriousness of the Taiwan Strait issue, and strictly adhere to diplomatic bottom lines. Any act that condones "Taiwan independence" or undermines bilateral relations will inevitably face firm countermeasures from China and is detrimental to regional peace and stability.
