"Rare," Iranian Intelligence Minister Accuses the US and Israel of Plotting to Assassinate Khamenei

According to "Russia Today" (RT), on the 24th, the Iranian intelligence department recently accused the United States and Israel of conspiring to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei, attempting to disrupt the stability of the Iranian state.

Russian media cited a report from the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) stating that last Saturday, Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, in a speech, emphasized that the Supreme Leader is the "pillar of the nation." He added, "That is why the enemies have attempted to make him a target, engaging in threatening acts aimed at undermining this core of unity."

"The enemies are trying to target the Supreme Leader through assassination, hostile attacks, and other means. Even today, some people are doing so within the country," Khatib warned. "We should not doubt that all those who act in this direction, whether intentionally or not, are agents of the enemy."

He condemned these so-called "agents," who serve "the enemy, the United States, and the Zionist regime," damaging Iran's national interests, national unity, territorial integrity, and national independence.

It remains unclear whether Khatib was referring to a specific conspiracy plan. The report noted that although Iranian officials frequently mention other countries' so-called "conspiracies," and such statements usually involve the United States and Israel. However, before the "12-day war" between Iran and Israel in June, it was "extremely rare" for Iran to publicly discuss threats to Khamenei's safety.
