According to "Russia Today" (RT), on the 24th, Iran's intelligence department recently accused the United States and Israel of conspiring to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei, attempting to undermine Iran's national stability.

Russian media quoted the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) saying that last Saturday, Iran's Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib, in a speech, emphasized that the Supreme Leader is the "pillar of the country." He added, "That is why the enemies have tried to target him, implementing threatening actions to destroy this core of unity."

"The enemies are trying to target the Supreme Leader through assassination and hostile attacks, and even today, some people are doing so within the country," Khatib warned, "We should not doubt that all those who act in this direction, whether intentionally or not, are infiltrators of the enemy."

He condemned these so-called "infiltrators" as serving "the enemies, the United States, and the Zionist regime," harming Iran's national interests, national unity, territorial integrity, and national independence.

It is currently unclear if Khatib was referring to a specific conspiracy plan. The report pointed out that although Iranian officials frequently mention other countries' so-called "conspiracies," and such statements mostly involve the United States and Israel. However, before the "12-day war" between Iran and Israel in June, it was "extremely rare" for Iran to publicly talk about threats to Khamenei's security.

The report stated that Khamenei is now 86 years old and has been the Supreme Leader of Iran since 1989, succeeding Khomeini, and holds the final decision-making power over Iran's strategic affairs. In recent years, he has repeatedly become a target of threats from US and Israeli officials.

In earlier conflicts this year, Israel targeted Iranian senior military officials, nuclear scientists, nuclear facilities, and residential areas, followed by the United States also attacking Iran's key nuclear facilities.

During the conflict, there were reports that President Trump of the United States vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader, while Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu downplayed the matter but simultaneously claimed that assassinating Khamenei "would not trigger a conflict, but rather end it."

Trump said that Khamenei was "an easy target," but emphasized that Washington "will not do so at least for now." He later posted on the social media platform "Truth Social" that he had prevented the Supreme Leader of Iran from suffering "a very embarrassing and dishonorable death."

During the war, Khamenei did not appear publicly, only delivered recorded speeches, and was not accompanied by other officials. Since the ceasefire between Iran and Israel took effect on June 24, his public appearances have also significantly decreased.

According to AFP, earlier this month, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian publicly stated that he had worried about the possibility of Khamenei being killed during the war, pointing out that this situation could further worsen the situation in Iran, and he was concerned that various institutions within the country "would fall into internal strife."

He emphasized, "I am not afraid for myself, I am worried about the Supreme Leader possibly meeting with misfortune, which would drag the country into internal division."

Behind the assassination allegations lies the continuously escalating tensions among Iran, the United States, and Israel, and the stagnation of negotiations related to the Iranian nuclear agreement has exacerbated this situation.

In April this year, the United States and Iran held five rounds of indirect negotiations under the mediation of Oman, but they still had significant differences on core issues such as uranium enrichment. The sixth round of negotiations, originally scheduled for June 15, was canceled due to Israel's attack on Iran. During the subsequent 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, the United States bombed Iran's nuclear facilities, and Iran retaliated by attacking the Udeid Air Base in Qatar where the US military is stationed.

To pressure Iran back to the negotiating table, the UK, France, and Germany notified the UN Security Council on August 28 that they had initiated the "fast-track restoration of sanctions" mechanism on the grounds that Iran violated the nuclear agreement. On September 19, the Security Council failed to pass a resolution draft to continue lifting sanctions against Iran.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on October 1st that, according to the nuclear agreement and UN Security Council resolutions, the restrictions and mechanisms related to Iran's peaceful nuclear program had expired and ended on that day.

On the evening of November 3rd, Khamenei made a speech on Iran-US relations and clearly outlined red lines: the differences between Iran and the United States are inherent, and only when the United States completely cuts off its support for the "abhorrent Israeli regime," withdraws its military bases in the Middle East, and stops interfering in Iran's internal affairs, will Iran seriously consider the cooperation requests proposed by the US side; otherwise, "such cooperation is impossible to achieve."

Afterward, Khamenei's foreign policy advisor, Kamal Kharazi, released a negotiation signal at a meeting. He said that Iran has always sought negotiations and has consistently conveyed the message that "peace cannot be imposed by force."

According to Lebanon's Al Mayadeen TV, Kharazi stated in his speech that Iran has always shown willingness to negotiate and will not avoid negotiations, but the condition is that the negotiations must be based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit. "Therefore, the Trump administration had better take a proactive attitude and show its willingness to negotiate on the basis of equality and mutual respect."

Kharazi further explained that if negotiations can be conducted on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, "Trump certainly would get a satisfactory negotiation outcome." However, he immediately warned that "the Trump administration must understand that Iran will not stop peaceful uranium enrichment, nor will it give up the defense capabilities and independence it brings."

"The problem is that Americans are not prepared for such negotiations. The US has always wanted to push its illegal goals through economic pressure, but this approach does not work, and the Iranian people firmly oppose bullying," Kharazi concluded.
