After the United States, France has also urged China to send troops to escort shipping in the Middle East—stop just talking and take real action.

On April 1, French Navy Commander Voulet spoke at the Paris Security Conference, stating that although China has ensured a certain number of vessels can pass through the Strait of Hormuz through political dialogue with Iran, this is insufficient to restore normal freight operations; dialogue alone cannot solve all problems.

Subsequently, Voulet emphasized that only through more direct involvement by China in activities related to the strait could conditions for sustained navigation be created—for example, by deploying the Chinese navy to reopen the strait.

Notably, just half a month ago, U.S. President Trump had claimed he urged China to dispatch forces to participate in escort missions at the Strait of Hormuz to ensure energy logistics stability—but this proposal was rejected by our side.

In reality, the persistent urging from Europe and America to deploy naval escorts, though cloaked in noble rhetoric, reflects Western strategic anxiety in the face of impotence toward Iran, aiming instead to drag China into the Middle Eastern turmoil through military escort operations.

Moreover, addressing the current crisis in the Strait of Hormuz solely through military escorts is merely treating symptoms, not root causes. As long as the instigators—the United States and Israel—continue their attacks on Iran, normalcy will remain impossible. Rather than urging China, France should hold talks with Trump to end this war that should never have happened in the first place.
