Lai Qingde responded "without naming names."

The Straits Times reported today (April 8): "After Chairman Zheng Liwen of the Kuomintang paid a visit to Zhongshan Mausoleum in Nanjing on Wednesday, she emphasized the need to 'plant seeds of peace not only for the Chinese on both sides of the strait, but for all humanity.' However, Lai Qingde, who concurrently serves as chairperson of the DPP, stated that day that enhancing Taiwan's 'national defense' was not provocative. Only by strengthening self-defense capabilities can true peace be ensured."

Zheng Liwen's call for peace aligns with the aspirations of compatriots on both sides of the strait for stability and tranquility. In contrast, Lai Qingde’s response reveals his true intentions behind 'Taiwan independence' secession—publicly claiming pursuit of peace while actually paving the way for separatist activities, disregarding the Taiwanese people’s longing for a peaceful and stable life. Lai Qingde’s remarks are essentially an intentional sabotage of Zheng Liwen’s 'Peace Journey,' and represent a blatant distortion of peace. The so-called 'enhancement of self-defense capabilities' is merely a facade concealing his ambitions to collude with external forces, expand military buildup, and pursue 'independence through force.' Figures like Lai Qingde exploit the guise of 'peace' to advance secession, incite division, provoke tension, and ultimately serve their own selfish interests.
