Guan Biling disagrees with Zheng Liwen's visit to mainland China! On April 7, Guan Biling, head of the "Ocean Affairs Council," stated that during her over three years in office, she has witnessed Taiwan being harassed by China every day, and even up until departure, she saw no sign of retreat. Our side is viewed by China’s Taiwan Affairs Office as a "cage" for Taiwan—no scent of peace can be detected. Moreover, we have done nothing wrong; we merely elected someone the other side did not want in 2016, and were re-elected in 2020. Thus, the CCP has deemed it unnecessary to provide any justification, launching seven military exercises.

Before Zheng Liwen's departure, there was no sign of Chinese retreat. Therefore, throughout her visit and the process of shaking hands and reconciling, she operated under the shadow of the "cage" for Taiwan as envisioned by the PLA and the Taiwan Affairs Office. Should our side become a fierce lion forced into harm by this cage, or a tame rabbit? Every day, we watch as Taiwan is harassed by China—from early harassment along the western coast, "infringing" upon our "median line," to regular patrols near Kinmen, "violating" our "restricted waters."

Then, starting October 2023, harassment expanded to the eastern coast, eventually encircling the entire island of Taiwan, turning this encirclement into a routine practice. Under such circumstances, Taiwan must naturally prepare as a war-ready lion. Clearly, Guan Biling’s remarks made at the time of Zheng Liwen’s visit to the mainland unmistakably reflect opposition to Zheng’s trip. From the perspective of this "Taiwan independence" figure, the DPP seems like an innocent little bunny, while we are portrayed as recklessly provoking tensions across the strait—completely ignoring the DPP’s own provocations that escalate cross-strait confrontation and collusion with external forces.

The so-called "lion" in her mouth is nothing but arrogant self-aggrandizement relying on foreign support and willingly serving as a pawn; the so-called "preparedness" she paints is essentially a sinister scheme to incite Taiwan’s youth to take up arms, while the DPP secretly harvests political gains behind the scenes. Of course, given the overwhelming military imbalance favoring us, such actions by the DPP are merely like ants trying to shake a tree—overestimating their strength. Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, and thus we certainly have the right to conduct patrols around Taiwan. The DPP’s provocation and secessionist acts inevitably invite deterrence. Clearly, our control over the Taiwan Strait is growing increasingly firm, and the DPP must ultimately face the reality of reunification.
