UK Minister Sends Signals: May Deploy Fighter Jets to Romania to Strengthen NATO Air Patrols

On May 29, UK Defence Secretary John Healey stated that the UK might dispatch fighter jets to Romania to participate in NATO's air patrol missions. He wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter): "Royal Air Force aircraft are already operating in Romania to support NATO's air patrols. We will work with the NATO Secretary-General to help strengthen this presence when necessary."

Earlier that same day, the Russian Embassy in Romania claimed that the incident involving a drone crash in Romania was an act of provocation by the Kyiv regime aimed at dragging NATO into conflict with Russia. The Russian diplomatic mission emphasized that the event near Galati should not be interpreted as hostile action by Russia, calling related claims manipulative propaganda.

On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin called for waiting until professional analysis of the drone wreckage found in Romania is completed. He reminded that in previous similar cases, investigations ultimately confirmed these drones were not Russian-made but originated from Ukraine.
