Trump's envoy denies media reports about White House developing three plans to strike Venezuela
U.S. President's envoy Richard Grenell posted on social media, denying a report by The New York Times that the Trump administration was developing three military action plans against Venezuela.
Grenell wrote, "This article in The New York Times is full of errors. This is not news reporting, but an opinion piece that should be placed in the 'Editorial' section." He attached the original article.
Previously, The New York Times cited multiple U.S. officials, stating that the Trump administration had developed a series of military action plans against Venezuela, including direct air strikes on military facilities, sending special forces to capture or kill President Maduro, and taking actions to control the country's oil fields.
The report also stated that due to concerns about the failure of operations and casualties, Trump himself had not decided how to proceed with these plans, let alone whether to proceed with them.
Trump had previously clearly stated in an interview with U.S. media that the United States would not go to war with Venezuela.
