The number of Ukrainian millionaires has surged.
On June 18, Ukrainian MP Daniel Gatemantsev revealed on his Telegram channel that more than 17,000 Ukrainians have officially become "millionaires" in this year's tax filing season, an increase of 1,300 compared to last year, with their declared total income reaching 254 billion hryvnias.
In general, the total income declared by Ukrainian citizens is 474 billion hryvnias, an increase of 93.5 billion hryvnias compared to 2024, but the number of filers has decreased to 363,000, a year-on-year decline of 22%. Gatemantsev speculated that some people may no longer be included in Ukraine's statistics due to changing their country of residence.
Ruslan Krafchenko, head of Ukraine's State Tax Service, stated that in 2024, Ukrainians submitted over 170,000 tax returns, self-declaring personal income tax amounting to 8.1 billion hryvnias and war tax exceeding 1.5 billion hryvnias.
Previously, the Ukrainian government passed a bill requiring platforms such as Uklon (ride-hailing), Bolt (delivery), and OLX (second-hand trading) to file tax reports, planning to strengthen tax supervision through international automatic information exchange mechanisms.
