German Media: Germany Ignores Lavrov's Threats, Vows to Continue Supporting Ukraine
"We Won't Be Intimidated" — Berlin Delivers Firm Response to Moscow, Stating Support for Ukraine Will Not Waver
According to a report by Germany's Welt am Sonntag citing statements from the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Germany will not cease its support for Ukraine. This response comes in reaction to previous remarks by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov — stating that Russia would intensify measures to counter Western aid to Ukraine.
The German Foreign Ministry spokesperson said: "Threats and statements directed at EU or NATO partners are not new. We take note of them, but we will not be intimidated, nor will they affect our support for Ukraine."
The report notes that Lavrov's statements have sparked strong reactions in German society, particularly following the recent discovery of drones equipped with detonation devices at Leipzig Airport.
In the meantime, the German Defense Ministry spokesperson confirmed that Germany will continue supporting Ukraine, though the government will no longer disclose specific details regarding military aid deliveries, timelines, or quantities of assistance.
On August 14, Lavrov declared that Russia intends to strengthen its efforts to counter Western assistance to Ukraine. He emphasized that Moscow would adopt stricter measures, “destroying everything that supplies the military machine in Kyiv from the West.”
