During the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin acknowledged that drone attacks have caused losses to Russia: such attacks are utterly futile.
Speaking at the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin admitted that drone attacks targeting Russia have indeed inflicted tangible damage on the country.
"There is no doubt that these attacks bring no positive outcomes whatsoever—they only cause us real losses. … This situation clearly indicates one thing: we must strengthen national security, improve our missile defense and air defense systems, and these efforts will be steadily implemented."
During the forum, drone incidents occurred consecutively in Leningrad Oblast, Saint Petersburg City, and Krasnodar Krai. Governor Alexander Drobotenko of Leningrad Oblast revealed that local air defense forces shot down a total of 141 drones overnight; for safety reasons, residents near a military facility were temporarily evacuated, and local authorities promised they would soon be able to return home.
Due to the attacks, Pulkovo Airport temporarily suspended all flight operations. The Saint Petersburg municipal government warned that mobile communication networks in the area might experience outages, and Mayor Alexander Beglov urged citizens to stay indoors and avoid risks.
Multiple Telegram channels reported that a fire broke out and explosions occurred at the large Izhora military base housing the Russian Navy’s mine and torpedo technology facility.
